Tranny feels jerky at 20..

I have an 03 CL. (with the goooood tranny...)

Anyways. When I drive it hard, it feels normal. But when I am just cruising, the tranny feels herky-jerky. Especially around the 20 to 30 mph range. Not when I am excellerating, but when just going a constant 20 - 30 mph.. It feels like you are lightly taping the gas. Anyone else feel it?

Why do our cars seem to slow themselves down (almost like down shifting) when we let off the gas? I feel this mainly around the 40-50 mph range. I let off the gas and the gas feels like you downshifted and it holds you back. Never had an auto hold a car back at all.

Just wondering. I read that someone elses 03 had a bad tranny. I know mine was built in late 02. So that arises questions to wether my tranny is a god/bad one.

You should be OK.... what you're describing doesn't sound like the tranny is failing... but sounds like a combination of the Hill-Gradient control as well as your torque convertor (TC) locking and unlocking. Driving constantly at 20-30 mph is kind of an in-between speed for the TC, so it's probably locking and unlocking depending on your speed....

The slowing down when you let off the gas is definitely the gradient control... and it's a great feature... allows me to slow down w/o braking when my radar detector goes off . Of course conditions have to be right for me to slow down enough w/o having to actually downshift (speed, slope of the road, etc.), but most of the time I'm OK

That helps a lot!

the slowing down is cause by an internal breaking system in the motor. at least thats what i was told, and is normal.
