tranny

Yes I know there is a tranny forum and I have spent a good part of my day trying to find some information. I thought this would be easier and proivde more up to date information.

Ok, my tranny started to die at 58,000 miles and the dealer has my car now awaiting a new tranny. I am curious to know if they improved the newer trannies so I will not experience the same problems with the POS tranny that was in the car or do I get the same type and expect that I might see the same problems down the line.

I did get some lip from the service writer this one guy at the dealership always cops an attitude. I told him isn't it great that a spark plug will last 100K where the tranny died before 60. He shut up pretty fast.

i doubt the less power. it only takes more power away between shifts at lower rpms to make the shift smoother. otherwise, they cant actually make the engine output less. plus that would be a nice lawsuit.

well they can make the engine put out less power by programming the pcm accordingly...and yes that would be a nice lawsuit...but who's really gonna catch it...miata pulled a similar stunt and no one picked up on it till car & driver or some other car mag dyno'd it...has anyone dynoed their car before and after a tranny/pcm "update"...like acura i too doubt anyone has/will...
