Sport Shift takin' a dump...

Quick and Dirty version:

On 2nd tranny w/ about 25,000 miles on it. I drive in SS %100 of the time. Took it to Acura because SS would not always engage. It would get stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear. When you pushed it over to D5 the tranny would shift just fine.

Check engine light comes on finally, this way Acura could get a code for what the hell was going on. It is a code for a relay for the SS mode. Since I am out of warranty and the tranny itself is not bad, the repair of $350 would be out of pocket.

Service tech told me to call Acura customer care and see if they would cover the repair.

Will update....

They did say that this is the first time they had ever seen the SS relay go out. Was told that the SS is only supposed to be used on an intermitent(sp) bases.

Stop slapping your monkey so much and you will not have the SS problem. Just kidding.

On a more serious note, everything the dealer repairs on my 2001 CL-S is the first time that they have seen the problem including the 5AT, throttlebody, seat cover cracks, motor / tran mounts, throttle position sensor, and air / heat control module. I think Honda has them trained to give that speel. Honda repaired all of these items, and many out of warranty, so you have nothing to lose by asking for help. My

The Acura dealer where I bought my car said they would fix it for free. The only problem is that it is in Atlanta and I am currently living in St. Louis. I will have to make a special trip to get it fixed sometime next year.

The dealer fixed the cracks in your seat under warranty? My drivers seat is doing that too. I didn't know it would be covered.. What did they do to fix it?

Acura replaced the seat covers. The covers are factory replacements that came in a box from Ohio, but they don't fit, as well as, the originals. They had creases at first and a few wrinkles. :wtf: I guess it beats the cracks.

my gateshift on the highway today was weird, I would switch it from like 3-4 and it would just pass redline and not switch gears until I let off the gas.

I called Acura Customer Care yesturday and they said they would review the claim and get back to me about paying for the SS fix.
The funny thing is that the rep that answered the phone didn't even know about the bad CL transmissions and the extended warranty. Maybe she was just a note taker and passes everything on the a claims person.
Will update once I hear back with the decision.
