Just got a 2001 CL
I just got a 2001 CL S-type. I'm new to the CL, but I have had 2 Integras and the wife has a 3.5 RL. We have never had problems with any of our Acuras.
The CL has 107k on it. I have no repair history with it so I don't know any more than that. It is a sharp car and runs great.
My brother is a mechanic and just inspected it. He says it feels like there is some slippage in the trans.
Looking at this page, I see a lot of transmission discussions. Can anyone give it to me quick and dirty?

That is way too much information. It doesn't make much sense to me.
Is there a place I can find the settlement and is there a way to determine the first purchase date of my car?
Thanks.

Carfax is your best bet for purchase dates and ownership, as far as the tranny goes, there's a problem with oil shortage getting to the 2nd and 3rd gears I believe causing excessive heat therefor slipping then eventually breakage. And something about 3rd gear plate slippage.. Acura had a recall and numerous people got transmission coolers, some of us like myself went with an aftermarket cooler, I personally chose comptech just because I've dealt w/ them before and never had a problem. Its a very good car, I have 117k on the original transmission and I drive it hard, however there are some guys w/ 60k and they are on #5 or 6. Its just luck...

OK! I'm on a roll. I found the Honda site for the litigation. Entered my VIN and found I was covered. Ran a carfax and found the first sale date of the car.
I have 2 months and 2000 miles left to get this done.
I have two different auto shops who will attest that my trans is fried.
Where do I go from here? Any Acura dealer? Will a Honda dealer do it?
Thanks.

You guys are great!
You guys are great! I followed your advise. My 2001 CL is in the shop getting a new transmission. I had 822 miles or 6 months to go on the extended warranty.
The problem was not that bad, and I was afraid the dealer's mechanics would not be able to duplicate it, and I told them so. The customer service guy told me not to worry because they didn't mind making the money to put a new trans in my car since Acura was paying them to do it.
Thanks.
