jumpy tranny at 40 mph!
I have a 2003 CLS auto tranny. When I am cruising around 40 mph the transmission seems to jump around. Meaning the RPM will decrease rapidly and then increase again. This only seems to happen 3-4 times a week and I drive around 25 miles a day. Any ideas????

Mine did the same thing, before I took it to the dealer who replaced it... So I would bring it in and have them look at it sooner, rather than later. Also, mine would slip from 2nd gear into 3rd.

Be SURE it is the tranny and not your throttle body. I had the same issues and it turned out to be a bad TPS sensor in the throttle body and not the tranny. My car is 100% now with the new TB! RPM's should not jump if it is the tranny. A bad TPS will surley make your rpms fluctuate though.

when i talked to one of the servicee reps at a dealer, he told me that a sign of a tranny dying would be high revving when you press the acceelerator and you would not be moving anywhere

I have had this same problem going up and down hills and everywhere else. The dealership said the car needed the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve replaced or cleaned! Is this BS or what??
