Put the J32A2 in the Civic, been done, see Google. I legit am considering buying an old CRX chassis, dropping my engine in there North/South, and attaching it to a corvette rear end. I am ready for a new project anyway, and I already have the engine I need.
Tranny-wise, what is the size of the input shaft? If it matches the J32, you just need a custom bell housing or adapter plate. I like your thinking! Talk to a good tranny shop, custom shop (as in, steel body '32 Ford customs), or other competent builder.
