Going Going??

Well, I hate to say it, but it sounds like my tranny is about to go.

It's started downshifting hard and even slipped on a couple of upshifts.

What's interesting is that I've been driving a lot more in D4 and D5 the past few months. Why this is interesting is that I've only noticed the problems when I leave it in Auto mode verses manual shifting. Especially the downshifting.

Anyway, I called my local Acura service to find out what the process is. They'll do a complete check, drain some fluid for testing and report to the Technical folks before ordering a new tranny. Not sure what all this means yet, but they'll need it for a week if it is a bad tranny.

Just a note, folks probably want to make sure they are getting the tranny service done when needed because he asked about that as well.

I also asked about whether they are still using rebuilds of the old design or new. Get this, he said they are rebuilds, but have been redesigned so that you shouldn't have anymore problems with the tranny.

So, I'm wondering if there is a difference. Rebuilt trannys that were done before Honda knew what the problem was. And rebuilt trannys that fixed the design problem. Eric . . . any clue on these comments?

And I just posted back on 3/7 that all was fine . . . should have not said anything. :P

I read through the " Latest updated replacement tranny (the one with the PCM change)" thread up top.

Looks like a few things have been updated/revised. Mainly 3rd gear and the computer.

I did the same thing last month and mine went. This board is cursed.

Fixed in a week. I do my own service, save receipts. But no questions about maintenance. The tranny shifts at higher rpms during normal driving, downshifts sooner. It does not loaf in higher gears anymore.

I hope everything goes smooth
