Extending transmission life in 3.2cl
Hey all,
I bought this car about a year ago as a certified used with about 39k. I had the oiljet installed about 55 k (when i got the letter in the mail about the recall) and my car is at the garage waiting to be picked up after the new tranny was just put in (now about 60k). As I decide whether to cut my losses and sell the car or to stick it out to the 100k mark and hope whatever number tranny i'm on will be the last I have a question....would using the tranny in sport shift mode extend or shorten the life? Any thoughts?

no it wont . this tranny may last longer if they installed a reprogramed PCM....this works on old ppl cars (lower rpm shift points) but if you have a suicidal driving style like me it wont matter

I would beg to differ from the stance of common sense...according to the nhtsa report, the second gear or whatever was not getting enought lubrication due to 2 factors, throughput, and engine rpm in upper gears. IE when in 5th gear, 2nd-3rd would not get enough lubrication, overheat, and clog pipe filters....in ss mode, the driver tends to hold the shift, there fore rpm's are up, and gears get more lube...make sense?
