Dead Tranny Club

Well I was driving home from work today and tranny started slipping just as my odometer read 24,000mi. I thought I was rear ended for a second there but no one was behind me. Anyway, it kept happening so I took it to Cerritos Acura (which was less than a mile from me) and they put me in a rental ( a POS civic with an alignment problem) and said the car would be ready in a week. At least no one was hurt and i got a rental (which I am trading at 5 tonght for hopefully something better since Acura said they would pay for whatever car I wanted as long as my car is getting work done on it)

Oh side note, when the tech and I took the car out for a test drive to recreate the problem, I was talking to him and he said that something as little as lower the car would break warrenty. What's up with that? It will actually void the warrenty, I just thought it would void suspension work but not all. Weird?!?!?!

You are entitled to a new tranny. It would be one thing if you had NOS and S/C.

The lowered car excuse is BS. If they try to pull that on you, head for another dealer.

I could give you the entire MM act regarding modifications and how the dealer HAS TO PROVE that modifications caused the problem.

This comes up again and again...

Acura and its dealers KNOW the slushbox is suspect and marginal. Grandmas have blown them up -- and even had to have two or more replacements.

Sorry to hear about it...

Off to tranny problem land...
