another potential tranny failure

wassup guys....i think my tranny is about to die...started shifting really rough and seemed like it couldnt decide which gear to get into. sometimes when i gas it, the rpms go up, but the car goes no where. i tried to change lanes and pass someone today and it didnt give me any power to pass...luckily no one was behind me.

i havent seen the check engine light come on yet, but i am thinkin these are the symptoms to a tranny failure.

what should i do? take it to dealer? how will they know if the tranny is toast? i havent flushed the tranny fluid yet, but i have changed it, not flushed. i have about 56k miles on the cls.

any suggestions? anyone from so Cal have their tranny die? if so, where'd you take it? soutch coast or tustin?...

please advise. any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Call TLC and have them tow it to whatever dealer you want. Don't risk it blowing out during your travel, that happened to mine. Sounds like tranny failure to me.

I don't know Socal dealers, but yes, your symptoms are similar to many others' on the board....and believe me, it doesn't take long before you're shit out of luck.

Don't think an Acura dealer loans out Toyotas considering its like their number one competitor. They'll probably give you a TSX or maybe even a TL.

Yea, the symptoms sound like the other posts about the trannies failing. Although, unless you have an extended warrenty, they may give you a hard time about towing it for free because you're out of warrenty for that.

Try Pasadena Acura or South Coast Acura, I use both and have been very happy

Not true. I had a Toyota Camry for a loaner once. When dealers run out of their own cars to loan out, they go to rental companies.

ok, dropped it off at tustin. got a tsx loaner. south coast never has loaners...they rent the econo cars from entreprise...plus i've had horrible experiences w/south coast. hopefully tustin will take good care of my baby.

Dealer says they ahve to reproduce the problem first b4 they work on it. hopefully the tranny acts up on them as it did on me.

be prepared to take it home as is if they can't reproduce it .. Acura has gotten really crappy about this .. and don't let them tell you that since you haven't thrown any diag codes that you have no issues .. cuz when my tranny finally died . .there were NO codes or lights

that's what happened to me with my TL. Went to the dealer, they took it out for a test spin, and they couldnt' 'reproduce' the symptoms. Drove it home that same day, and on two seperate occasions the car wouldn't shift from 1st to 2nd. It's been about 3 weeks since then. My car shows symptoms of the tranny dying daily, yet I'm forced to drive it since I am not 21 yet and they wont give me a loaner. :o
