Am I hosed?

Maybe I'm being paranoid but I swear my tranny is doing strange things. It seems jumpy and drawn out, especially on hard acceleration. I am currently at 55k miles, and I have run my VIN through a check of those '03 CL's with the extended tranny warranty and mine is not one of them.

I am currently on my third transmission, so I think it's BS that Acura can say that my car is not affected by the tranny issue, hence no extended warranty for me.

So I'm not sure what I should do - should I sell the car and let someone else deal with it when the tranny does completely go, should I ride it out and just pray that nothing bad happens to it, or should I talk to an attorney?

I love the car and would love to drive it up until 100k, but I don't want to be hit with a $5,000 repair bill when and if the tranny does decide to go again.

Thanks for your input

Its your choice, but you are covered until 100k so i would drive it out. But thats just me.

Or once it dies, have them replace it, sell the car and find a CLS6

How do you figure? As I understand it, only certain '03's are covered and based on my VIN number my car is not one of them. This was verified at the dealer

i'm pretty sure that they will cover you. I think ever tranny from what i read is covered to 100k. only certain ones get the extra 9k miles of the extended warranty. I have read on here that people with cars that were not covered still got a good will replacement from the dealer at just over 100k.

Take the car to them and tell them to check the tranny out. If its failing again, they should replace it. In our TL, second gear was surging a lot and when we finally took it in (before it blew) they checked it to see what was going on. Called 2 hours after we dropped it off and they said it needed to be changed.

Hey sundevil. I took mine to Acura of Scottsdale when my tranny went. I'm not sure if mine was included in the 03's or not, never checked the VIN, but when they determined my tranny had an internal failure, they replaced it under good faith from what the service advisor told me. The entire experience was great there. The service guy I dealt with was Randy Braaten. Anyway, figured I'd let you know they're a great dealership (you might already go there) and they might do it under good faith even if your VIN isn't on that list.

So the previous two trannys, were those replaced under your regular 50k mile warranty or something?

I have been going to Acura North Scottsdale. They already did some goodwill work for me on a leaking rear strut, albeit I was at 51000 miles. I bought the car with around 42xxx and when I inquired about any recalls I was told that the tranny had been replaced once. Then at around 45xxx I had my car in for some random issue and they told me that the tranny was bad and they put in a new one.

I am just convinced that the tranny problems are nowhere near fixed by Acura, and I just worry that I might be up a creek if mine goes again.

Where's the link to the VIN numbers for the bad trannys? I'll try plugging in my VIN and see if mine is covered or not. If it's not then most likely they'd replace it under good will just like they did with mine. I just can't remember if mine was covered or not.
