I just got a 98 - 2.3L CL, and when I get to around 2000 rpms there's a grinding noise, I'm not sure if I'm always in the same gear when it happens, but it is consistently happening around 2000 rpms. I'm also not sure if it is just the drag on my compressor or if I may have some tranny problems.

Any suggestions, ideas, etc?

The F23 and it's 5-speed manual are strong units. Does this occur in one gear, or all of them? Could be the syncros are worn out, that's fairly pricey to repair. Given it's a used car, the previous owner could have abused the hell out of it and has ruined the transmission.

I know on my 1999 Accord 2.3 LX 5-speed, the throwout bearing was shot because the previous owner continously popped the clutch.
