Yokohama tire noise?

Installed P215/50VR-17 AVID V4S Yokohama tires on my 2001 CLS last week. There seems to be more road noise from them, then the OEM tires. Should there be road noise or is my tranny going out at 36k miles? It sounds like a low roar. thanks, Bob

Mine were MUCH quieter than the OEMs. The OEMs did have 61,000 miles on them though.

Well I had Yokohama ES100 tires and they were louder than the all terrain tires on my explorer

You should easily be able to tell the difference between tire road noise and a bad tranny.

No problems either, and love my V4s. Have you tried listening with the window down? That should give you a clearer sound if it's the tires, but I'd be surprised since you have stock sizes just like me.

The OEM tires are junk unless you plan to do highway driving.

Tire pressure issue? I know it sounds silly but some people just don't know what PSI to have their tires at.

I alos had the V4S. They were crisp in stering in the dry and were very quiet BUT in the rain they need help in gripping around corners, they slide first then grip. Big disadvantage and no I am not speeding in the rain. Another note is that these tires takes bumps harder than other tires I had. You feel them ALOT more than usual. I switched to P Zero Nero and BOTH the rain grip and ride quality over the same route was tremendously improved.
