Why not 245 size tire in a 19x8 rim?

Hello, thank you all for keep a imformative forum...i've learned lots...i am interested in buying the axis mod se7ens in 19x8 45+ offset...i know 235 tires are reccommended and fits good in a 19x7.5 tire...but why not 245 tire in a 19x8 rim? I have tokico illuminas with tein h-tecs....my drop isnt low...there is still wheel gap in front and back...say at least 2-3 fingers in front and 2 in back...i read through the forum but no one has ask why...i just see every one with a 19x8 rim rolling on 235s or 225s... any advice would be greatly appreciated..

btw...any one on this forum have 245 tires all around?

Cause 245's are a bit too wide for the car. You have a greater chance of rubbing when lowered. Also a 245 is not the correct size to keep the speedo correct. With only a +45 offset 235's will be pushing it. If you want to use 245's you can. A few members have but you either need no drop, or a higher offset.

thanks for the feedback...i appreciate it....but a least 48+ offset with the same config..would work right? with the 19x8 rims and 245 tires...and my h tech drop? u think i would need any fender rolling or anything like that? tires im thinking the thinner the better....like 245/40/r19 or 245/35/r19? i rather have 40 ...but thanks for you help...any feedback is welcome...

oo yeah..i was looking at another rim...with 19x7.5 +42 offset...i guess i could only use 225 or 235 tires....any rubbing probs with these?...thanks a lot for any info

I had the same wheel. With the 235/35/19, I never rubbed with either my H&R Sport springs, or when I had colivers. However I was extremely close. I would say there is no chance you will fit unless you roll the fenders. Also, the 235 tires looked great with the wheel. IMO, there is no need to go with a wider tire.

Im going with 245/35/19's next time around for sure. I want the extra grip and extra wheel protection. If you grind the rear fenderlip off a bit it wont rub, and it'll ride better too. Plus I hate the way my rear 225's look, sooooooo skinny.

The speedo will only read a lil slower, and hell it'll acrue (sp?) miles slower so thats a small bonus lol

Altho my perspective may be a bit biased, I have 275's on the FRONT of my Cobra.

thanks everyone with their feedback...anyone know how much i cost to roll the rear fenders?....i guess the h-tec drop is lower in the rear..im guessing it will rub in the rear...i hope it isn't much...i guess i want the 245 for cosmetic purposes...i dont like my 225s..they are too thin...our cars are actually kinda wide...and i think its a turn off to have such thin tires for a performance machine...anyways...i hope it doesnt cost that much...the speedometer won't read accurately?....that'll be interesting...why won't it read accurately?

I have 245/35/19's with 19x8 +49.You will have to roll and trim some to keep them from rubbing.By the way they will not effect the speedo.
