Who's used Falken's?

I'm think of getting the Falken 912's. Has anyone used these tires or heard of anyone liking or disliking them? Or does anyone have any other suggestions on a good high performance all-season tire?

I have used Falkens before on my Gti.

Can't remember the series of tire but had no issues.

those of you that do/have ran them:

1. How long did they last?
2. Did you use them year round?
3a. Have you used any of these tires?
Continental ContiExtremeContact
Yoko V4S
Fuzion VRi
Any of the Sumitomo HTR series tires?
3b. If so how would rank them?

i heard bad news about continental tires, never heard of yoko unless you mean Yokohama tires, in that case their pretty much the same as the falkens maybe a little bit better. Fuzions are ehh and my friend runs sumitomo on his camaro and loves em, butt i think flakens might be the way to go. I found them for 83 a tire=$332 i believe.. shipped to my house for free and no tax!!!

I've heard mixed reviews on Sumitomos. My friend with a GLI loves his, but my friend at school has them on his Lude and hates them, so idk

Thanks and Thanks! I ended up choosing the 'save cash approach' and snagged 2 used BF's from a friend for 25 each...not exactly what I had planed but hey, winter tire problem solved for a total of 75 instead of +-500-money saved is money earned. I'll beat these up for the next few months and pick up where I left off in the spring. But I would like to keep this thread going. Tires make a the difference, and what better person to get valuable tire information from than someone who's not only ran them but ran them on the same car?! So if you have info/experiences (good, bad or any where in between) regarding All-Season Tires, POST IT!

just a follow up...

So I'm pimping a doughnut on my front right side...I nailed a curb last night taking a turn a bit to fast in the snow...After having experimented with "used tires" I have decided to pull the trigger on a set of NEW Falken 912's...After deciding to go with newbies I'll give my on "used tires"...

THE GOOD - Worth every penny when expectations are realistic. I paid a total of 75 bucks for two tires (mounted and ballanced) that were basically new in terms of tread. I clocked around 5k miles on them including two round trips between Mo and VA and until last night had no problems; if I hadn't nailed a curb, I wouldn't even be here typing this.

THE BAD - To a certain extent you do get what you pay for and I imagine there is a bit of luck involved as well. Used is used is used. And for that reason you never really know what youre going to get. I mean yeah, I looked them over pretty well before buying them but even still, if had missed something that caused a problem (even with in the first mile of driving) I would've been F-ed...If you try to return a used tire, you are a DB and will more than likely get told to FUCK OFF! So if youre going to do it, realize the risk. Also, its only worth it if cost ratios are impressive...

CONCLUSION - Again, I endorse purchasing used tires IF AND ONLY IF you are realistic/honest enough to see that the only benefit of used over new tires are financial; used tires do not compete with new tires in any other way! They MIGHT last a similar length of time but that bet is far to risky to make so underestimations are best. They will more than likely not preform anywhere near as well as new tires for a multitude of reasons. And reliability is just as ify. I bought used for reasons related to time value of money principals and the longevity of them served that purpose. I bought used with intent to buy new with in 4 months and thats exactly what I'm doing. If you're in a financial pinch and need tires imediatly but dont want to fork out 500+ for the ones you want, snag some decent used ones for a few months while you make the new tires a reality. I found mine on Craigslist and if you're willing to make a few phone calls, a set(4) of pretty decent 17 or even 18's can be had for around 100)..good luck!

I have the 912s, 2nd winter with them and have no complaints. I would have chosen I different size but that was my mistake. There tends to be a lot of water on the roads in my area and the 912s cut right through it and yet stick to the pavement well in dry.

452's are good, I have them on now, granted they are practically bald. The best thing about the falkens are the way they look. I always end up going with Toyo Proxes 4, those are the best dollar value, best looking, and best performing tires I've used.
