Wheels that Fit RL Calipers other than TL wheels?

Does anyone know which model wheels will fit an 01-03 CL with the RL caliper mod besides the OEM TL wheels? Sorry if this has been covered somewhere else but I couldn't find it.

Abuot anything 17"+ with a 45 or lower offset. Pay attention to spoke design too though because my buddy's 19" genesis wheels had the offset to clear but the concave design of the spokes wasn't having it. If you're asking what factory wheels will work other than 3rd gen TL, A-Specs will too. Outside of acura i'm not sure, but the offset is a good rule of thumb

Thanks I currently have wheels with 48 offset but because of the lip they won't fit so I'm finding out that you pretty much can't have any lip on the wheel. I'm aware of the 3rd gen wheels but I wanted something different than those.

you can have a lip but to do that you would have to at least have a 9'' wide rim. i think my fronts have about a 1 1/2 inch lip on it. i cant remember off the top of my head.

Its not as simple to say that a wheel with a +45mm or greater offset will fit. Case in point - a +43mm 18" RPF1 will not clear. The flipside to that is a set of 18" SSRs in +48mm will clear. It all depends on the spoke design.

The easiest way to know if a wheel fits is if it will clear the 3G TL 6MT or Type S brakes.

I know on stock wheels the rotora bbk needed 5mm spacer and wilwood required 15mm, so wilwood requires more clearance than most.

^Sooo you could use wheel spacers to make any sort of wheel fit on the calipers?

I'd go with a wheel that is at least +45 offset with no lip because if it has a lip, you'd have to have a wide wheel or an even lower offset. And if that happens, you'll get fitment problems like rubbing, which I hate. I'm tossing on a set of 18x8 +35 wheels soon, they clear the BBK with room to spare. No lip on them.

I really want a set of A-sepcs. 18x8, +45 and clears the BBK. Since the offset is high, there should be no rubbing issue with those.

Depending on tires and drop, that might rub. My 18x8 +48mm RJ Legends rubbed in the rear over certain bumps and when people were in the back seat. That was with 235/40 tires.

Hey M, what's crackin'? I am going back to OEM look so 18" Aspecs are coming via UPS. I believe these should clear the the RL calipers from what is being said here.

Also, I'm taking off the ADR Titans. I don't know if they will clear the RL calipers, but I just measured and there is a pretty big 8mm of clearance from the stock calipers. As you expressed interest in the past, rather than have yet another set gather dust in my garage, I'll hook ya up. Mounted on these is a tire setup that you should experiance. Great stick and turn-in w/ very reasonable comfort and noise levels. Let me know if you are interested. Anyway happy T-day. J

Thanks for remembering and if they fit I would definitely be interested but how can we find out if they fit?

Measure the distance between the rotor and the spokes of the wheels.

I'm not that low. I have problems with the front but my rears are cut so no problems there.

Legend Wheels in 18" or 19" with a 38mm offset will fit.
Rev wheels and Harrow wheels with the same offset as well.

You keep a full size spare in the trunk or wait for roadside assistance tow truck!

Or in an absolute emergency, move one of the wheels from the rear to the front and put the spare on the rear. Thats assuming you have the same fitment all the way around.

regardless, you are supposed to do that with the LSD, or in that case, with any LSD on a car. plus it's not like it takes much more time anyway

True.

The smaller diameter wheel could eat up the LSD (overdriving one side).

This option as well as the roadside assistance and or keeping a full size spare seem viable options depending on the situation your in.

Personally, I wouldn't feel as safe with the doughnut doing the driving AND the steering...I always make sure it's on the back. Coincidentally, I just came off a spare-wheel-marathon. So happy to finally retire that *itch back to the trunk.
