What winter tires would you recommend?
Hey guys,
we got the first snow of the season last night and finally decided that I'm going to get some winter tires since I drive over 30 miles to work one way. I just want to hear what you guys have to say about the different winter tires out there. I live in Denver, so sometimes we get some good snowfall, but there is always a lot of slush and ice. The tire I want is the Blizzak MZ-01. How does this compare, between the others out there. Thanks for the help guys.

Tire Rack results -- most of these come in 235/45-17 ($$$)
Here is the C/Survey for Winter Tires from Tire Rack -- your tire is there:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/winter.jsp
Also, they make 16" packages.
I finally noticed a Yoko Winter tire that has a 91Q load rating in a 215/50-17. Nashua_Night_Hawk found this tire first (he left a comment on the site) and I finally found an ad. for it in the November C&D (don't know how good it is).

I have used blizzaks for years. The best application is stock width or size. a wider tire will not perfprm as well in deep snow.
On this vehicle however I kept the stock tires and whells and had the tires SIPED by Discount tire. In a Michigan winter this is more than adequate when combined with VSA and TC

I got Nokian WRZ's on my car. They are 225/45's, fit and look great. The snow tractin seems to be really good, althouth I have only driven it in relatively light snow. But then again October's light snow in Upstate New York is like a blizzard in most other states.
