I am thinking of the michelin Pilot XGT Z4 in a 225/50/zr17. They will fit on our stock rims (6-8"), can handle the weight(93w), and the revs are very close to stock at 813. They are also all-season so should go well in the snow, at least they were rated decently for snow travel (just behind the dunlops)
I don't know if Michelin updated the tires (the Z4s), but a number of people have commented on how deadly the XGTs H4s felt in the snow.

They are also NOT XL rated tires (if you care about such things) -- the XL goes along with the 93...

If they are totally fubar I might just return them and shell out the cash for the Toyos (which, including shipping and return shipping of the Khumos and shipping for the Toyos will practically cost me as much as a set of Pilots). I'll keep my fingers crossed for the khumos.

What size kuhmos did you order??

TIA.

I thought all 93 weight tires are XL?????? The weight handling of these is the same as our stock tires (over 1400lbs). Is XL something above and beyond the posted weight?

I went to the michelin site and punched in tires for our car, the pilot XGT Z4 was one of the recommendations that did not require a new rim.
I read the tire-rack reviews on this tire, the winter reviews looked pretty good for snow performance.

Anyone know of any reviews on the Toyo all season tires?

In the case of the MXM4 OEM tire, the XL means that the stock tires supports that 93 load rating at 35PSI. It will support MORE load up to its max pressure around 40PSI.

For example, the XGT you mentioned supports a 93 load (1433 lbs) at 44PSI. So, the tire is NOT going to support the same load as the stock MXM at 32 or 35 PSI.

The XL tires have a reinforced casing and not everyone designates the tire with an "XL". In some models of the Toyos, they have a reinforced casing, and this provides the equivalent of an XL rating. There a some Nittos that also XL equivalents.
