Voxx Wheels
I know most of you will dismiss this thread and consider these wheels cheap and move on. For those of you that read this far, can you provide me any more information. I am interested in the following:
They come in 18x8 et 45
Price:
18x8 Silver $128/ea w/ Kumho AST 225/40/18 $879 Shipped
18x8 Chrome $198/ea w/ Kumho AST 225/40/18 $1159 Shipped
http://www.wheelsdirectonline.com/voxx/misano.htm
- How they are made. How this is different from other wheel makers.
- Where they are made.
- How come they are so cheap.
- Does anyone know any one with them?

The Forging process uses intense heat and pressure to transform a solid slug of alloy material into the final shape of a wheel. Forged aluminium is about 300% stronger than cast aluminium, yet less material is needed to produce the same "cast alloy wheel", which results in a lighter product. Because of the basic limitations inherent in forging, most forged wheels are two or three piece units. In two-piece construction, a centre is forged and welded or bolted into a spun or stamped outer rim. In a three-piece wheel, the centre is bolted to an inner and an outer rim half. This stands as an advantage of being easily customisable for a variety of widths and offsets.
Casting is a relatively inexpensive way to produce a high-quality, fairly strong alloy wheel. There are two methods used. One, system is known as gravity casting. The first is simply using molten material poured into a mold and allowed to cool. These molds are usually made by machining a piece of material on CNC machine equipments to produce a wheel that only requires minor finishing (like drilling or possibly trimming of some excess metal) to be considered complete. The other and better system used is the low pressure or negative pressure casting. Here instead of pouring the molten material into the mold, the molten alloy is drawn up into the mold using a high-pressure vacuum. This eliminates much of the trapped air found in gravity casting process, producing a stronger wheel that is less porous than a gravity-cast one.
Hope that answers your question.

Thanks for the info....I am just browsing for wheels and thinking. So, what is the difference between the way the wheels above are made and say, the way the Enkei RPM 2 are made (since Enkei is the maker of some of our wheels):

actually, the hyper black will be the recess' of the wheel, sides of the spokes and all, but the face will be Diamond cut machine polished for a nice luxury mixed with sport feel. But to answer your question, not right away, We may introduce a second finish mid year or next year.
Here is a pic of the Inspyre in that finish, this was just a sample wheel in the pics below...

Ok, I got to thinking again...I want TL wheels, but also considered getting something like this, Voxx MG, because of how reasonable they are...I know, you get what you pay for, but I actually like this style:
Also -- would this clear a BBK?
18x7.5

$139/ea shipped
