toyo proxes 4 (5k mile review)

I just rotated my t-proxes 4 tires (235/45/17) at the first five thousand mile mark. Treadware (300) appears minimal and these tires have performed nicely thus far. Tire pressure all around is at 38psi cold. Trying to get the best MPG without sacrificing saftey.

I'm extremely happy with the 235 look over the 215 size as well. A four wheel alignment was performed when the tires were installed for piece of mind and everything appears to be wearing evenly. Wet traction is excellent at interstate speeds and highway clover leaf traction is excellent as well.

Some members on ACL.com have expressed reservations; however, I have not experienced any real noticable disadvantage by increasing the size to 235 on the 17 stock wheel. Inaddition, the tire rim protector lip has saved my ass a few times in regards to scraping the wheel edges in close cornering For those of you who may be on the fence in trying to determine whether to upsize the width from stock 215 to 235, I have found it to be a non-issue.

Overall, I would recommend these 'All Season' tires to anyone in the market.

I know there are a few other ACL members who have these tires as well. What are your thoughts, positve or negative?

I'm interested to know as well. Where do you get your tires installed? Can you take those, even though they're not fit to specification and have a tire shop install them for you? Will they object to this for liability/safety reasons?

I took them to CostCo for the install, about $40.00 for mount and balance. The plan was to mount one tire first, install it on one front side, turn the steering wheel all the way to one side to check for rubbing. There was none. The other three tires were mounted/balanced/installed and I was on my way. No one gave me any conflict about the tire to rim specifications.

I purchased a $59.95 wheel balance at the local Acura dealer and all has been satisfactory. Even if they (CostCo) would have refused to mount the larger tires, I would have eventually found someone who would. Frankly, the tire size looks as if it belongs on the 17" stock tire. I did a search on ACL.com and read all the feed back from other members and was convinced that this size was for me.

i just pulled my CL into the garage after picking up my new rims.

i purchased a set of Enkei RS7s and they came with a set of Toyo Proxes 4s.

i didnt know much about either item, the rims or the tires... but I got such a good deal that I jumped at the combo.

The drive home was smooth as silk, and this is on a set of 19s... On Michigan highways no less.

I think this will be the begining of a beautiful friendship.

I had previously ordered the Axis Milano rim, and after learning that they wouldnt allow me to drop my ride, I went to another shop... and they had these sitting there waiting for me.

needless to say, I am happy with both the new rims and the new tires,

the rims are in an anthricite (spelling?) color, and they have a machined double thin lip.

the center cap also has a chrome look to it.

I was very happy with the rims, and I never ever considered a dark colored rim. These things are almost black...

They look very tough on the car, and the Toyos are a nice compliment to the look.

Now all I need is a drop and I will be coooool chilllllin...

the tires are the bomb....

holla,

kumar
