Tire Selection-Help

Well, I'm in the market for some new tires in december, and would like some guidance. I've always bought some All terrain tires for my durango, so I'm not exactly familiar with these car tires..lol.

I've been going by the reviews on Tire rack, i've been told to buy from there.

Heres a few of my questions:

-I live in South FL, so i wont be needing a good snow tire. Do i want to go with a summer tire? Or an all season?

-I know the stockers are 215's but the previous owner had some 225/45/17's on there, and I think i want to stick to that size. Good idea?

-Lastly, I don't need to be blowing my whole budget on tires. The ones I've been looking for have been in the 100-115 dollar range.

I don't track the car, so I don't need anything crazy, Here's what I have been looking at so far:

If you guys could give me some suggestions, that would be excellent. Thanks guys.

Those look pretty nice, do you think i will notice a difference going from 225 to 235?

Thanks man, I'm guessing you've personally used these?

Also, are these great in rain? I spend my summers in orlando, which as most know, downpours everyday, 3pm. lol

Fine in the rain.
You really should be using 235 since that's a speedo match. 225 is slight smaller.
You can order them from any tire kingdom. Might be a better way to go since they will install them all in 1 shot.
Tire rack will be a little cheaper for the actual tires though. I think I paid like $110 per tire from tire kingdom.
If you do order from tire rack, don't tell them you have stock CLS rims, say you have after market ones that are 8" wide. Sometimes they gripe at selling tires of a different size for stock cars.

I also put these tires on my grandma's mustang & my mom's altima recently.
I work in south Boca if you want to take the drive & meet up & see/feel them.

I have been running SS595 Federals on my CL-S6 for the past year after doing some research and I like them over than UHPs on my TL. Stiffer sidewalls and stickier rubber give better handling in both wet and dry. Also surprising that the ride is pretty comfortable and at this stage the road noise is low. It was a tough decision as I have tried Federals a while before on my past GS-R and they were awful. These SS595 are a pleasant surprize. If I don't upgrade to Direzza Z1 Starspecs I may get these again. http://www.onlinetires.com/default.a...ta=tireResults

Are you sure? The stock is 215. Wouldn't 235 be even further away from speedo match compared to a 225?

Check Tire Rack site and click "specs" for a given tire w/ sizes in 215/50/17 and 235/45/17 and compare the diameters. I believe they are both about 25.4" so speedo should read same for both.
