Question Suspension for a Baller on a Budget...

Im pretty new here and also not the most knowlegable with hooking up cars and everything. I have a bunch of friends with hooked up cars and see how they do stuff but never remember or havent tried it myself. So now that i have admitted my incompetence.....can somone help me out here...

Im trying to get a good suspension kit (shocks/struts/springs...blah...blah...) ....but im not trying to spend more than $700 and thats pretty high.....

I know they say u get what u pay for but what can i get that would be the best for the amount im looking to spend...and what setup do you guys think i should do....

My suspension cost roughly $600-700. Comptech Springs ($300) and Tokcio Blue shocks ($350).

yea i was thinking of getting just springs but after doing a search lot of people here said to go ahead and get the springs and struts....i found some eibach springs...and some tomicko shocks...i was wondering if thats a good setup.....or any suggestions that will give my pockets some kind of room...im not trying to be cheap tho....i really just want it to have a nice handled ride to and from work...and riding around wit friends....

I dont think im gonna adjust it like that but having that option is cool.....and so far these are gonna be for my stock rims till i save up for new ones...

i think the title of this thread should be changed to just "i'm on a budget".

I think you should look into Tein Basic Coilovers or a combination of H&R Sports + Koni Yellows. I have teins now, but at times I wish I was still riding on my Konis.

well you get what you pay for, but a few members are running "x" springs with tociko shocks and it seems to work well.

If you lower your car alot your factory struts wont last long to my experience and 700$ is pretty straight if you do the install yourself, But dont forget about the camber kits. Im not sure but I think I read that for the pro-kit you don't need them. For my 01 on sport-lines I did. Hope this helps a little.

$700 is not a bad budget to be on. Personally, I would keep it stock for now and save some more cash. If you can't wait, you could find a used set of Tein's SS for sale. I just sold mine for less than that. In fact, you would have had enough left over to get them installed.

Make sure that you add to your budget the cost of installing them and doing an alignment.

So more realistically you are probably looking in the $500 range.

How many miles are on your car? It it's low and you're just looking for the look, why not just get springs for now. You said that you can get someone to help with your with the install for pretty cheap, so that shouldn't be much of a factor.

I would just get some H&R Sport springs. You can get a set used for about $100, if not less. And if you need to in the future, pick up some shocks/struts. They should be about $350 to $400 for a decent set. But you won't need to install those until your stock ones are shot.

50k miles on it now.... see i was searching around and saw a lot of you guys say to get sprints and shocks/struts at the same time instead of doing it at once but yall would know best now knowing my milage if i can take the chance and wait it out or replace both now....???

NEVER take chances bud. Do it now, pay for the install once. Rule of thumb, stock struts are good for 50-75k miles. If you lower your car on stockies the life is dramatically reduced.
