Question Suggestions?

Normally I'm a performance kind of guy so I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to suspension/lowering. I'm thinking of lowering the car mainly for stance and possible slight improvement in handling and I wanted to know what you guys would recommend. I would like it lower so that the currently stock wheels (or other future 17"ers) fit better in the wheel wells without being too low. I don't plan on taking corners hard (rarely if ever) or autocrossing. Most of the roads I drive on are very smooth, but unfortunately the road to my school has many rough spots, dips and uneveness and my school itself has 16 of those tall speed bumps (from hell) that I have to go over every weekday . What would be my options and what would each require (such as camber adjusters or shocks, etc). Thanks for your help!
