Strut "bellows"?
Strut "bellows"?
Hey all,
I've been having some noises from my driver's front almost since I installed the Tein SS coilovers. It got so bad that I uninstalled last night and found that the metal cylinder inside the stock bellows/sheath/dust boot was damaged. Apparently at some point it got tweaked out of its perfect circle and it had been "bottoming" on the top of the strut body.
My question is what does Acura call this thing and where can I get a new set? And while I'm in there, I also want to replace the "top hat" so I need to know the official name for that, too.
Any and all help is appreciated.
I will be going back to stock and selling the Tein SS coilovers on the Black Market next week. I love the Teins, but I'm not going to AutoX this car - I bought a VW Scirocco for that.

C'mon, somebody has to know the correct terminology for these things. Pleeeease. I have to replace this sometime in the coming few days, but I need to know what to order.
Thanks in advance.

Hey, you can refer to the top hat as a top hat, most places know what you're talking about. Here is a diagram:

Good luck on the VW Scirocco, those things are road carving animals. My local buddy of mine placed 1st place in his class at Buttonwillow 2 years ago in his.

Thanks Nite. I did finally find the info on that site. Incidentally, the dust boot is also shown in this diagram.
Acura part #51687-S0K-A01 for the boot (#12 above).
The top-hat is made of several parts, as shown, and doesn't apparently have one part number for the whole thing.
It would be nice to know if the only other boot I could find, made by KYB, would be a replacement for that acura boot, but it doesn't matter as one of the local dealers will be ordering for me.
Thanks.
