So I went to get an alignment

I just put in Tein SS so I went to get an alignment. After about 3 hours of them having my car they call me and tell me they can't do it yet because I need lower ball joints. Is this correct? I know I've read something about pillow ball joints but I don't know too much about car parts so I was asking you guys? They said they can order them for me and I'm about to go pick up the car. Whats a good price for these so I know if I'm getting jipped or not. Thanks.

they cannot align your wheels to manufacturer's specifications because I'm guessing you do not have a camber kit installed. It usually includes adjustable ball joints for the front and adjustable control arms in the back. if your aligment is off your tires will not wear properly and wear faster also. However if it's ok with you just tell them to align the wheels as close to mfgr specs as possible and that's it. But if you find yourself chewing up tires like crazy then I would recommend getting a camber kit.

Well I'm getting my 2 front tires replaced because they are almost bald. I guess he must be talking about a camber kit... not sure but this whole deal is going to cost me 1100 bucks which blows.... like 500 for the 2 tires (Michellin pilots cost that damn much?) And another 600 for the ball joints and labor for the alignment. Jeez i was prepared to pay like 40 bucks for the alignment this sucks ass.

oh hell no man! don't let them get you.
if you are dropped and can't get aligned you need the ball joints and probably the rear arms. also this work can be done yourself.
try out SPC or ingalls.

ingalls from excelerate...
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=190060

SPC can be found on ebay or online shops.

Please do not let them touch your car. Do your research, get informed, & do not waste your $!

So your telling me I should get camber kits? How would I do this work myself? and afterwards should I get it aligned? Thanks for your help guys I don't know much about this stuff. I think I might still get the 2 new tires though because they are worn real bad and I know how that happened. Thanks!

Tires can be bought on the net or Ebay cheap. The camber kits can be bought online. You can still use the shop to install, but don't buy parts there.

Or research shops in your area & ask for quotes. You now know what you need.....

Camber kits installed
Alignment
2 tires
