original tire miles
I have about 31k miles on the original tires on my 03 6spd; they seem to be getting a little slick in wet weather and I'm thinking about replacing them although there is still a decent amount of tread left. How many miles did you go before doing that? (I'll need all weathers to cope with PA snow, probably go with Conti Extreme Contacts) Thanks

I've got 28K miles on 2 OEMs... One oem tire developed a bubble, so I replaced that with a used oem I bought from another member here. Then I hit a pothole, and blew out #2 (the sidewalls suck on the oems). Bought 2 Yokohama V4s. A short time after I tapped a curb and oem #3 went. Luckily I had saved an oem so I put that one one. I've got 2 oems and 2 Yokos now. Next time a oem goes, I'll buy a couple more of the yokos.

I got about 25-27k on the OEM tires, and replaced them after sidewall bulges were in three of the four tires. My second set didn't get more than 35k out of them either. I am on my third set in two years.

on to the next one...
I went 70k before getting new tires for the front, still have bald ass originals on the rear at 77k, but those are getting replaced before 78k....that's pretty impressive.

I got 50K on the originals before going with 18" rims and ultra high performance summer tires (Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's). I use the stock 17" rims with Dunlop M2 winter tires.
I just replaced the tires on my Audi A6 (had the same Michelin's as the CL did) with the Continental Extreme Contacts. It's been less than 1k miles but I am very impressed with the ride and handling. It's a great high performance all-season tire at a reasonable price.

Mine are at 43k right now. I plan on upgrading to Yoko Avid V4s in the near future, probably after the 45k service so they can tell me how much tread is left.
