Opinions needed about wheels.....Not 56K safe
Im dropping the CLK 430 on Eibach with Konis
....it will only drop it 1.2 inches all the way around.
Im thinking I really dont need some wheels and stay with my 17" staggered setup but.....but the more I look at some of the 18" I get very tempted.
basically I need wheels that would distinquish my clk from others but at the same time not make it look RICEY or TUNERISH. So far the only wheels that I like are the Lorinsers LM-5 and Brabus VI both in 18"s.
here is a pic of my car now so try to picture it about an inch lowered all around.
now this is the Lorinser LM-5 in 18" which I like best..these cost around $5K with tires
this is the Brabus VI these cost $5K W/tires
these are 18" AMG 2 pc.....I like them cause they are classy but IMO a little to ordinary. cost is around $3-4K with tires.
by the way this clk430 is dropped on eibach
and last but not least the SSR GT3's in 18" and Satin finish cost $3K with Potenzas S03 and are ready for immediate delivery through Tirerack.com. I like them but in the pic is the exact size that would be on my car and they just dont look too impressive but they do cost less than all the others.

WoW, tough choice, I like them all, except for the AMG's, if cost is a factor then I would get the SSR, 5k or 3k = 2k in the pocket for other goodies, but all very nice and classy looking!!
keep us updated with pics Lou!!

I saw a girl driving a clk430 with what appeared to be 19 inch gt3s and let me tell u...HOT...and the car was too :p. But yea, the gt3s fit the clk430 much, much more than it does on the CL.

Oh if you get 2 pieces...please get them 1 size larger than you intend because the dish will make the rim look smaller. Such as getting an 18 will look like a dinky 17. Get them atleast 19s.

No SSR's, not for that car at all. I think the Brabus wheels are a bit more exclusive than the AMG's, so I'd choose them first though they both are pimp...

damn everybody seems to like the $5K wheels the best FAWK because that is what I like too.
what about these....this are the cheapest way
My wheels but in chrome
AMG in 18" staggered and dropped on Eibach stock shocks
these are 19" AMG off a cl though I will need spacers if I get these
these are standard AMG single piece
Brabus VI in 18" non-staggered

Lorinser LM-5's look alot like Zauber Gettins. If you dont mind not getting the Lorinser name, then you may save alot by getting the Zauber's.
A shop like Ultima in Lynbrook can get them for you locally too.

as far as the wheels Im still undecided because I called about the AMG and they are for the SL 2 pc. 18x9 front and 18x10 in the rear which will possibly rub.
I really like the AMGs SL 2 pc. so I gotta find out if they will rub with the drop.
then yesterday I was driving in Manhattan and Im rethinking the drop even though its only an inch. I really dont want it too stiff and the ride is somewhat rough to begin with. I dont know but Ill do it soon just gotta make sure I dont make a mistake.

the standard amg single pieces (white clk pic) would be good for a budget friendly choice (but with that car it doesnt look like that is suck a problem!)
i would have said go for the lm-5's but i think they only look good in chrome, and chrome doesn't have the same effect on a silver car.
brabus are nice, but somehow dont make me catch my breath
and those ones on the beemer? forget about it. they look cheap/weak even though theyre probably not. They just dont compliment the strong/bulky body of the clk (which i love/ wish i could afford)

I like the way the 17's look though and it has a smoother ride damn this is a tough decision
