offsets

if the offset is 40 is that going to move the rim outwards of the fender or inwards? i'm thinking outward, but i wonder if it's going to stick out past the fender.

40 is too low,

42 is doable.

anything over 45 is what you really want

Check this thread out and decide for yourself. the tires are 20" with a +38 offset.

Check out some rims and wheels websites, or just offset and width for a tire and you should get some good results back.

lower offsets will make your wheels stick out past the fender, thus rubbing on bumps and dips.

depending on how wide your going.... lets say if your going for 18x8 wth +48 might rub but with an 18x7.5 with +48offset shouldnt rub. the best I would go for is a 18x8 with +51 offset.

I had 19x8 inch wheels with a +45 offset. Never rubbed and was lowered with Tein's SS coilovers and with H&R sport springs before the coilovers.

My best recommendation is to get above a +45 offset for 19 x 8 inch wheels. For 18's I would also get above a +45, but I think you can get away with a +42 if it's a 18x7.5 wheel.

For tires I would get 235/35/19's for the 19x8 and 225/40/18's for the 18's.
