Offset
Offset
O.K., just a quick question. Offset, the lower the #, say 42, the farther the wheel sticks out, towards the fender? The higher, the farther in? Is that why the stock 2003 wheels seem like they are sucked in so far? Thanks. :ponder:

offet usually work with width together.
for example CLS
18x7.5 with 42 offset would work but 18x8 with 42 offset might rub a little 18x8.5 with 42 offset WILL rub
the wider the rims are the higher offset you will need to make it fit.
You have to figure offset along with wheel width and compare the difference in offset to your OEM wheel. And you need to get under there and measure the space for yourself. Nobody can tell for sure if they'll rub without measuring. Try this website which calculates the changes toward outside and inside for you:\

IT MIGHT or might not rub with that set up.. some rub some dont.
i rubbed for the first time
not sure what my offset is, but i went and had a tein basic put on my car.
took it for a test run and it rubbed for sure.
so the guys at the shop lifed it back up to like 3 fingers up.
doesnt look as aggressive, but what you gonna do.

getting the fenders rolled does not require any painting, it is just cutting off or bending the metal lip on the bottom of the rear fenders, have a shop that knows what they are doing do it or else it will require painting
niz,
yeah just looked at my paperwork and the rims are a +35 offset...
god i cant get a break... wasnt even gonna get rims and now here i am with some fcuked up offset issues.
so you think a shop could do the roll eh?
is it done often? i dont know that many places around here that would do that.
i know of one place that may.
wouldnt it easier to get the right offset of rims?
i am now stuck with some +35 that i could keep on with little or no drop, or i could get some 45s and drop the sucker...
who knows....
we will see....

niz,
i just dropped 1779 on these rims and tires... ha ah... not made of money...
i may ride these for this season and then get some new ones in the spring...
i dont wanna roll the fenders... just wanna keep that stuff as is...
i would buy new rims before i did anything...
question for you is .... i have tires that are this size - 235/35ZR19 91W
Can i keep these tires and get a new set of rims with a 42 to 45 offset?
that would atlest be a lil cheaper...
i dont know what i would do with the other rims...
but i would be able to drop the car better,
i can get the same rims with a 45 offset... that would be plenty good i think...

thanks rod/niz... i will talk to the guy at the rim shop and see if he will swap me out some new rims.
i am sure i will lose some money on the deal, but better to be happy than to be sad..
i am still ahead even with the additional cost than i would have been if i had purchased the axis rims...
so we will see.... so with the tires size i have (235/35ZR19 91W) and a 19 inch rim with 7.5 and +45 off set i should be able to do a proper drop?
is that what you are telling me?
if thats the case, i will get that in the works monday...
holla at me....

Some rims are stout and thick enough at the hub to be remachined. +35 to +45 = 10mm or a few hairs over 3/8 of an inch. Might want to look in to that if the trade in does not work.
