Noisy tires...

Does anyone else have Dunlop fm901 225/40/18 tires?

I find them really noisy compared to stock...or could it just be that my car was balanced properly after the install?

thanks

Hi performance tire (like 40 series) will be noisey.. You have to make realistic choices.

I wouldn't say it's because of his tires being high performance...

I had Dunlop SP8000's on a couple of my cars a few years back & they were fine. However, my last pair of Falken's in a 45 series for my Supra were so loud, I could here them over my radio...

They rate 'mediocre' in noise comfort on the TireRack consumer review.

The open block design of many high performance tires make them louder then say a touring tire.

If your tires are brand new, give them 500 or 1000 miles to break in. Sometimes you cannot really judge the tire characteristics just after your first or second rides. Of course, these may be noisey tires.

If your problem was a balance issue, you would feel the steering wheel wobble at various speeds. Over time, you may notice an uneven wear pattern on an unbalanced tire.
