Need Opinion: 04 TL wheels on CLS

Here's the deal. I need new tires for my 02 CLS. My stock wheels have a couple of nicks and scrapes from battles with the curb. I have the option of buying a set of 04 TL wheels with tires (2k miles) with no dings or scrapes. Would these wheels look good on my CL? How much should I pay? I am attaching a pic of the 04 wheel...can someone photoshop it? I need opinions guys...let me know what you think. Keep in my that the width of the stock tire is 215 where the 04 TL stock tires is 235...wider is better.

i wouldn't be suprised if the price is over a grand. i don't know if those tires are expensive, but a decent set of tires will run you 800. So, if you need tires, and want new rims, i think up to $1500 would be ok.

Yeah, when you do it, please post a pic. I was thinking of the same thing.

Anyone know where to get some? Does the TL.com site have a black market?

There was a picture of someone on here who did it and I don't think it looked right. The wheel gap was even bigger and the offset was off too... made the wheels look funny.

Do you know where the pictuer is...I could not find it. I ran both numbers through a tire size calculator and the actual diameter stays essentially the same...so not sure how it could make gap bigger? About $600 is the price so that seems to be in line with what your guys are saying. I think a pic would seal the deal.

The picture was not of the 17's that you have pictured above. It was of the 18 inch optional gun-metal twin 5 spoke new TL wheels. It was on a silver CL.

I dont think the car was lowered, that is why the 18's looked so hugh..

Here it is:

I dunno. Someone on the TL site said that they will rub.

This is what one guy posted:
17inch ------> 17x8 35-40et w/ 235/45-17
18inch-------> 18x8 35-40et w/ 245/40-18
Thats for the new TL wheels.

I am not sure what the specs are for the 2nd Gen CL.

But here is a thread that says they wont fit...

I am getting them tomorrow. I'll post pics as I get them. I talked to a tech at David McDavid Acura and he said he put a set of the 17" 04 TL rims on a CLs w/o any rubbing from steering lock to lock. Note this is on a stock height CLs...has not been lowered.

runis are you putting the 17 X 8 wheels on there with 235/45/17 tires?

Yup. Got em on there last night. Drove it around...no rubbing at all. Keep in mind again..this is STOCK height. Very few probably agree with me but I like the stock height...I think the wheelbase looks too long when lowered on the CL. If you want to fill the wheel gap get bigger wheels and tires. Interesting note...I was looking on the inside of the 04 TL wheel as I was putting it on and it said "Enkei"...pretty cool. Pics coming very soon.
