NEED HELP! Wheel issue..

Here is the situation.. I ordered some wheels and basicall recieved the wrong size. Here are the details:

Ordered 18 *7.5 5:114 with a 40 offset. I have 235/40/ZR 18 tires. Before I ordered the new rims I was running 18*7.5 wheels with a 40offset. There was no rubbing or the wheels sticking out beyond the fenders.

Now with the new wheels I have rubbing and the wheels are sticking out slightly from the fenders. I was sent 18*8 wheels with a 38 offset and spacers were mounting with the wheels, I believe 1/4 inch spacers were used.

Is there anything I can do to stop the rubbing and have the wheels and tires tuck under the fenders. All I need is about 1/4-1/2 inch to get the wheels under the fenders.

I am hoping removing the spacers will solve the problem.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Bottom line is, you're rims just aren't made to fit our cars man...usually a 40 offset is even too low for us, I'm surprised they work for you. If they sent you different sized rims than what you ordered, send them back for ones that fit. It shouldn't be a problem if they are any sort of reputable dealer. I say send em' back, you might as well get what you paid for....but that's just my $.02
Good luck.
