Need help on shocks.

i'm going to get a set of H&R sport springs and want to get some shocks to go with it. i looking at some koni adjustables but the cheapest i found was $320 shipped wich would total $640. and the tokiko illuminas adjustable was $253 shipped wich would total $506. but i also found some tokiko shocks for $350 shipped all 4 but its not adjustable. is it still a nice ride even though its not adjustable? and will it wear out as quick as if i just kept the factory ones?

no aftermarket strut will wear out at the same pace of your OEM struts. if you're not planning on adjusting the dampening after changing your struts, I would just go with the ones you found for $350; otherwise I'd just save up for coilovers.

Those would be the Tokico Blue HP's. Those are the non adjustable ones. Really don't need the adjustablity unless your going to use that feature. I have the HP's, & had them on my other CLS. They ride just fine. Others have them too. You can run the stock shocks for a while, but you will need to replace them sooner then later. Might as well save the labor $$ & get them done at once.

Also those HP can be bought for cheap........here
I ordered 2 sets from this guy with no problems.

Is shock replacement mandatory with changing out springs or just recommended? I'm lost when it comes to the suspension aspect of cars. I know I want to drop my car a little and will most like go with H&R Sport springs but I dont know what to look for in terms of struts/shocks...
I want a stock ride feel and nothing soft/bouncy...

shock replacement is not madatory its just that if you ride with stock shocks and aftermarket lowering springs the stock ones will wear out real quick so its better to get new ones. honeslt i would recomend either koni or tokiko shocks. some come adjustable which stiffens or softens the ride.

If you don't need adjustability, go with Bilstein, another trusted name for shocks. Nitequill has the same setup...H&R with Bilstein (The part number is the same as for 98-02 honda accord). Expensive, but high quality, and lifetime warranty...can't beat that. The setup i'm about to install is Tein HTech with Bilstein shocks.
Good luck

I have the older version of Comptech springs. The newer ones lower the car more. My ride is fine. It's not too stiff, but not soft. It's very good.

Like 2 years ago. The old ones are gray. The new ones are black, & they are copies of Eibach springs I think, or maybe H&R's, I forgot which ones.

so that means i have the older ones which the previous owner installed. i have yet to install the Illuminas that i bought and fear to find a rusting, rotting set of springs. i hope they're still good.

Don't want to Hi-Jack the thread but I think this falls in line with the topic...

Are the Camber kits necessary (Front and Rear)?
