Need help
I searched and found some helpful things but nothing really definitive...i know this has probably been asked a thousand times but just want some good solid advice and knowledge from members with experience...short and sweet...
I have 17x7 55 offset wheels...i want to upgrade the tires to 235/45/17...i plan on lowering my car with tein h. Techs....any problems? Will i rub? All over the internet says 235 wide tire is too wide for only a 7" wide rim. Help please!!

From the ***Official Second Generation Information Thread***
Stock size: (CL) 205/60R16 OEM CL wheels: 16x6.5 w/+55 offset;
(CL-S) 215/50R17 OEM CL-S wheels: 17x7 w/+55 offset
Aftermarket Upgrade (CL-S): 235/45R17 same approx diameter as stock, larger foot print, more traction, & better OEM wheel protection.
Don't even worry about rubbing. Not with stock rims, and definitely not on H-techs.

thanks g...i saw that in the info thread. i am mainly asking about the width of a 235 tire on a 17x7 rim...and i thought maybe that the 235 tire with 55 offset might be too wide and rub on the strut housing...

Well if it's a recomended upgrade, then i'm sure it's fine. You still won't have any problems with rubbing. H-techs are a relatively mild drop, and you're on a 7" rim with good offset, so don't worry. I don't know much about tires though, sorry.

I have two sets of stock size wheels 17x7 55offset - CL-S and TSX wheels. I have 235/45/17 on one set and 225/45/17 the second set. I wish I went w/ 235/45/17 for the second set too as the look is better and the rpms are noticeably more sedate in 6th gear on the freeway. And as stated here often there have been no negative experiances or degradation of handling from the wider tire...at least that I could find. Just don't waste your time trying to convince TireRack of this. Oh yeah I'm running on H-techs and no rubbing anywhere, inner or outer edges. Go to it.
