MRR GT1 vs. TSW Snetterton

Okay.

I am looking to purchase either one of these rims (18's) and wanted to know what my respected "Acurazinians" thought.

MRR GT1 vs TSW Snetterton

I don't know much about either companies and would greatly appreciate your recommendation and feedback on which one I should get for my CL.

Thanks.

I know!!!

19's are what I want but I think price of tires is weighing on that decision.

Seems to really jump in price from 18 to 19 inch.

TSW's....better name brand, and I believe they will be a stronger product! yes, you can buy cheaper rims, but the moment of truth on a rims strength, build & quality will come when you slap a pothole going 60 mph on the freeway!

from someone inside the industry, they are probably made by the same factory. Its a matter of customer service and design preference. I know the MRR will have a shinier lip, but not sure if it will have the same potential problems normally associated with the stainless steel lip jacket.

Thanks for the feedback.

Stainless steel sounds "soft."

I really like the style of the "mesh" look on the TSW.

Although, the MRR's look so good on the right car.

I appreciate everybody's feedback so far.

Sounds like the TSW's are more popular in general.

They aren't the cheapest and not the best in class but I think they will be okay.

Exclamation

Okay...my head has been in a "tailspin" trying to educate myself to make the right decision.

Please someone help me....

I have been on Acurazine day and night researching all the threads trying to make sense of wheel offset, width, size when comparing these two wheels.

The problem is that members on different threads are mixing wheels, offsets, try this, I did that, why did you buy those???

Am I missing something; could it be this hard to figure out?

So....

This is what I have established:

The stock tire are 215/50/17 i.e.:
Section Width: 215
Tire aspect ratio: 50
Rim size: 17
Bolt pattern: 114.3x5 (4.5" cross lugs)
Weight: 52 pounds.
Offset: +55 (+42 or higher will probably work)
Load rating: 93 Size: 17 x 7

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++

What I would like:

1) To lower in the future 1-2 inches all around.
2) Wheel does not extend pass the line of the body.
3) Something that will not rub now or later (after lowering). No shave or fender roll.

Ideally....

The MRR GT1's have the best dimensions for my '01 CLS and I know for a fact that I will not have an issue with this style.

18 x 7.5 +48 offset.

However, the TSW Snetterton's are the style I prefer and come closest with this dimension:

18 x 8 +40 offset.

I don't think they will fit and according to TSW's application guide....the CL isn't listed as being applicable.

Is the problem with the width??? I noticed the other applicable models being 18x7 or 18 x 7.5 +40 offset.

Does the width make this much of a difference and what would be the downside to run with the TSW's.

I know this is a huge question (actually like 10 questions) but please can anyone make this decision very simple for me.....

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
