thats a great set-up...
the Konis can be had BRAND NEW from 500-600 dollars.
the Springs are 175-200 brand new.
sounds like a good deal for a complete suspension upgrade...
I had the Koni Yellows and Comptech Springs.. I was not happy with rear drop so I upgraded to TEIN SS-P with EDFC... I could not be happier.. I can fully adjust the height and easily change the dampening of the shocks with a push of a button..
You will have to manually adjust the dampening on your shocks.. the fronts will be easy (Just pop the hood)... the rears will require you either drilling a hole and welding on an extension in the rear deck or pulling out the rear seats and deck lid to adjust them..

yep.. choose the softest.. all the way to the left (counter clockwise) or else your kidneys will fail....
I never adjusted mine until the week before I was taking them off the car.. OMG, my kindeys and brain were hurting from rattling around so much... it was a painful harsh ride.
all I am saying.. if you plan on Auto-X'ing or tracking the car, you wil want to adjust them.. and to do so, you will need to do the above.

no problem...
P.S. if you doing your own work.. great... but if you are getting them installed, make sure you do not pay more an 200 for the install.... AND after about 500 miles go get the car aligned.. the springs will settle (even though they are used)...

![Why Me](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/whyme.gif)
Our cars have struts....
when the spring and coilover are together its called a coilover like your teins. A shock and a strut are two diffrent items, which both are sold seperate from the springs.
Also struts are long and tubular with a large hole at each end to mount them. Struts have a hole at he bottom, and the top has a large plate 1/4 the way from the top and just a threaded bolt at the top for mounting.
To the original poster. Yes this is a good deal, however it sounds a little too good to be true. Check everything out real close to make sure the struts are leaking and the springs are rusted or cracked

Edit to my last post
struts are mounted inside the springs (hense the need for the plate), shocks are usually mounted beside the spring.
strut
shock

If you so smart, go ahead and try to mount a shock on your car and see how that goes.

Direct from Koni's website
Q: I often hear the terms strut and shock used interchangeably. Are they different?
A:Shocks and struts are similar in that they both damp (slow down) the vehicles motion. The key difference of a strut vs. a shock is that a shock only controls the cars motion while a strut is a locating member of the suspension. What this means is that if you remove a shock the spindle or axle will still be completely attached to the vehicle. If you remove a strut the spindle or axle will be able to move outside of its normal motion. Shocks and struts may or may not have a spring mounted to them either. It is often assumed that any damper with a spring is a strut, this is not the case.
And NO im not just trying to prove you wrong. You can delete whatever you want im a big boy I can take it. At the end of the day this is just teh internet and I have better things to worry about after I leave work

A Strut is a Shock + Spring Suspension component that is used within the steering of an independent suspenion. (can be adjusted using Camber) (CL-S)
A Shock is just that... a Shock component that is used on a soild rear axle (can be load bearing) . It can be outside the Spring or within the Spring... On some vehicles it is load bearing.
Shocks dampen.. when they are on a SOLID rear axle they are called SHOCKS. When they are on a independent suspension vehicle they are considered Struts because they are a steering component and can be adjusted via Camber.
The CL-S is equipped with STRUTS (Shock & Spring combined) because it has an independent suspension. BUT when you talk about the parts being seperate they are known as Shocks and Springs.

and go read Post #13 again and again and again...
the thread originator was talk about Koni Yellow Shocks.. and that is what he bought.
When he removes his stock parts and breaks them down he has in pocession:
1. Shocks
2. Springs
3. dust boot
4. Top cover plate (aka: Hat)
So next time read the thread completly and you might actually not look like a jackass.

It is okay... I thought I knew everything when I was 24 years old too.
and if you do not mind me asking... Who installed your suspension components?.. because I got a funny feeling it was not you....
When you get some hands on and work on the CL-S as much as I did, then you can come run your mouth to me in threads and try and discredit me..
Until then... become a fly on the wall and keep reading little man..

I installed my STB, ICEBOX, and STRUTS/springs on my CLS. I have been modding and repairing my own cars since I was 15 years old. No my tint will not peel, and it looks really good, but it has been raining for a while and I haven't be able to take pics for that thread.
I see you are the one who needs to grow up since you seem to through around all kinds of negative comments about me, when you dont' even know me. You are making all kinds of assumptions. In fact I have an engineering degree and I actually know alot about vehicles. Oh and in a year I will give you my paypal so you can forward that $500 dollars over.
Oh yeah if your done bashing me take a look at the posts in this thread and you will see that I have never said one bad thing about you. So I think I have kept this pretty mature. Have a nice day

So nice to see you modding and repairing a car before you were even old enough to drive.

Give your tint some time, that was the point of the professional tinter's post. ..I highly doubt your tint guy guarenteed his work.
Who said anything about growing up?... you can not read.. it is pretty straight forward and simple.
You're right I do not know you personally but from today I can tell you're not too bright.
Who cares about your degree... it does not make you better or any smarter about the subject at hand.
Sure, send your paypal addy with the exception that you drive down here in 1 years time and show me your windows and if I am right, I get to smash all of them with a baseball bat..
![Wink](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I really do not care if you would post anything about me in this thread, you got nothing on me...but you sure are trying hard to get nowhere in a hurry.
it is pretty simple the guy who made this thread was making a comment about saving money on shocks that he bought... You came in and right way think your going to play superman and tell him they are called struts. The guy bought shocks.. Go to Koni yellows site and buy some Koni Yellow Struts.... They are called Koni Yellow Shock Absorbers.... You see, your too dumb to realize your mistake... No one told you or ANYONE else in this thread the CL-S does not have struts... it is just that you butted into a conversation that had nothing to do with you.... because you think you apparently think you know when you have no idea.
I will have a nice day....
you have 1 too, because you just made my shit list.

Just because your too young to drive doesn't mean you can't have a car. When I was 15 I bought a car planning on making it drivable by the time I was 16, which it was.
My tint has lasted 2 years now with out a sign of anything bad happening to it.
