issue with alignment
issue with alignment
I got my springs and shocks put on about 2 weeks ago so I got an alignment done today. It was off by a lot, but it's within specs now. The problem I'm having is that I noticed while driving on the highway that when I'm driving straight, the steering wheel is tilted a bit more to the right than level. Is this OK?...as in is that ok as long as my alignment is fine, or does that mean more adjustment needs to be done?
Means the aligment guys did not have the wheels straight when they did it. Take it back they will fix it. The aligment should still be ok. If you want to live with a off center steering wheel, you can.
Yeah, I just noticed that my steering wheel isn't centered, but I haven't had an alignment in over 20K miles...
I've always thought that centering the steering wheel was part of the alignment process.

Well, it's "supposed" to be.
Every time I take my car in for an alignment, I always make sure to tell them... "please tell the tech to make sure the steering wheel is straight before he gets started".

Some shops just do it wrong. You don't make the steering wheel straight. You make the wheels straight then adjust them so the steering wheel is centered.
A lot of shop just put the steering wheel straight then align the car. If it's off it will still be off when they are done.
