Installing coilovers on saturday, Do i need any special tools?

Well, I'm installing my Tein SS's on satuday and I was wondering if I need any special tools other than my ratchet set?

http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/102381/DI...%20Install.pdf

I've got these instructions, which are pretty thorough.

Do i need to rent a spring compressor?

I know air tools are helpful, but are they a must? I don't know if they can be rented or not.

Thanks guys!

Why would he need a spring compressor? They're coilovers. You remove your factory spring/strut assembly and install the coilover assembly. It's pretty simple if you ask me. It would be easier with air tools but hand tools should be enough for the job.

you do not need a spring compressor unless you are installing new coils. since you are installing coilovers you do not need one. i will recommend a bottle of liquid wrench and a breaker bar for your ratchet. air tools are not required. good luck and have fun.

Damn...went through the DIY guide.

That's awesome of him to put that together.

The whole thing sounds like a beotch!

Get some buddies and some beers...

Good luck with everything.

Uhhh...he got the Tein SS coilovers. They don't come with tophats last I checked. So he will need spring compressors to transfer the stock tophats.

As others have said, you can do it just fine without air tools. If you have stock rear endlinks, prepare yourself for a lot of frustration trying to get them off if the bolts are rusted and strip.

Most importantly, ask a buddy to give you a hand. Makes a world of a difference on our cars (especially for the back)

Yeah, that would be the reason i would think i would need the spring compressors.

Anyone have an answer to that using the stock top-hats?

Yeah you can always go to the dealer and buy a new set of top hats, in case you need to swap the stock suspension back in with minimal effort. I bought my teins with top hats from heeltoe. I still think you will need spring compressors to put on the hats on the front 2 coilovers.

Tell us how it goes..

My Teins were making a squeaking noise when I first installed them.

The sound disappeared after time... not sure what it was?

You need spring compressors to install the top-hat.

I'm glad my install guide will help you out!

You dont NEED. But since you get 100% of your money back, it is a good idea to have.

It makes taking the top hat off the stock spring a breeze, without it, the pressure of the spring makes taking the stock top hat off a bitch.
