Got My SSR Comps 17x8 and Yokohama ES100 235/45/17 97r

I got my Rims/Tires from Tirerack.com today. I ordered on Sat and got them today. NOT BAD! I'll be posting pictures with measurements and weight readings

They will be installed this coming monday.

Here is how they came of the UPS truck shipped via UPS Ground.

other pics:

A little booklet that comes with the tires via TireRack:

Made in Japan

SSF

FORGED OR SEMI-SOLID FORGED

The ultimate in one-piece wheels. Forging is the process of forcing a solid billet of aluminum between the forging dies under an extreme amount of pressure. This creates a finished product that is very dense, very strong and therefore can be very light. The costs of tooling, development, equipment, etc., make this type of wheel very exclusive and usually demand a high price in the aftermarket. Semi-solid forging (SSF) is a process that heats a billet of special alloy to an almost liquid state and then the aluminum is forced into a mold at a very high rate. The finished product offers mechanical properties very similar to a forged wheel without the high production and tooling costs of a forged wheel. When low weight and performance are on your priority list, the SSF technology offers an excellent value. Currently only SSR (Speed Star Racing) from Japan is licensed to use this process for the production of wheels.

39-40lbs combination of rim/tire:

Congrats. You should see quite a difference in the way of performance. Nothing like losing some unsprung weight. NOW POST PICS!!!

Good choice. I really like these wheels too.

I was happy with my service from Tirerack too. The Delaware wherehouse is close enough to make the shipping time almost non-existent.

Don't trust their balancing though. I took my tirerack balanced set-up to a local shop and the guy said he has never seen so many weights used on one rim before.

51# for 2003 Type S Wheel with OEM Michelin tire on my crappy bathroom scale -- so give or take a few pounds.

The difference in weight between the stock cast wheel and the SSR forged is very noticible when you mount the new wheels. You can really feel it when you lift the two wheels in comparison.

I can't wait to have them put on! Although waiting till monday will give me a chance to apply 5 layers of Z. HOPEFULLY, it'll help to keep the brake dust off.

I Zaino'ed my SSR GT1s when I got them. They're pretty easy to keep clean. Just a wipe with a soapy soft brush/rag easily takes away the dirt and dust The Zaino seems to prevent the dirt from really sticking.

look at u, all drooling and sh!t hahaha

hey Zap, get Z on them pronto...after Lou gave me his, i rewashed with Dawn (no offense, but u mentioned u used Mother's) and put on about 9 layers...u'd b surprised how quickly the Z deteriorates on the rims...use Z5 the most...only use Z2 as top layer...TRUST ME!!! Z5 lasts hella longer than Z2

midway during the summer, i'm gonna demount and redo each rim inside and out...suggest u do the same

Lookin good! You'll feel an immediate performance gain once you put them on as they are much lighter than stock. That = better acceleration, handling AND braking!

If anyone else is interested, Ive got a set of these brand new for sale. Please see:

Very nice . . . especially the 39-40lb for a 17x8 and 235/45s.

Now when you replace the ES100, save some bucks and get the T1-S that weight a couple of lbs less. You'll save another 2-3lbs and it will have an even bigger impact since we are talking about the weight saving that are furthest from the hub.
