Front Suspension squeeks...
Front Suspension squeeks...
Gents,
This may be suited for the suspension part of the forum, but it's not an aftermarket Q, so I'm starting it here.
I have 84,xxx miles on the CL and all original parts for the suspension.
I just recently had the tires rotated on the car and now everytime I turn a corner, or hit some little bumps in the road, my front susension makes the kind of noise you hear when you have sex on an old spring bed.
I don't believe it has anything to do with having the tires rotated, just a coincidence.
What I am thinking is that it is the original shocks going bad.
Your thoughts? How much for OEM repalcements?
I would get aftermarkets with a drop if I were keeping the car much longer, but I'm not, so the OEM will be the replacements of choice.
Thanks!

I don't know what year CL you have but if the shocks are in fact blown you will be able to get aftermarket shocks, i.e. KYB GR2, which are a replacement for the OEM shocks at a cheaper price than the stock ones. If you need a price let me know.

I had the same squeaking sound, but at 50k miles. I also have Comptech springs, so maybe that accelerated the problem.
It turned out to be a busted front driver side shock, and the others were ont heir way to going bad also.
The dealer wanted something like $1060 for parts and labor for new OEM shocks. Screw that. I upgraded to Koni Yellows.
Not only did I upgrade to better perfromance sport shocks, I paid a few hundred less than what dealer wanted.

I hear ya on the upgrade thing, but I'm not keeping the car much longer, so I just want to get something that works for cheap and have them installed by my mechanic.
If only one or two are squeeking, should I just replace them all anyway since there are a lot of miles on them?
Thanks!
