Front Suspension Clunk at Low Speed
There is a clunk sound coming from the front suspension of my '03 CLS 6speed when I hit small bumps (like manhole covers etc.) below 25 mph. It's on both sides and sounds similar to the noise made by worn-out struts.
I've replaced my struts & springs all the way around (when I lowered it) and just replaced my passenger side upper control arm and axle. These changes had no effect on the noise generated by my front suspension.
Any suggestions on what it might be?
I'm thinking my sway bar end links are next...

first thing i would check would be where the bottom of the shock is slid into the bottom bracket. There is just one bolt that squeezes the shock and holds it. If this bolt is loose it will allow the shock to slide up and then "clunk" back down when the car flexes. this was happening on my buddy's car after a suspension install and this was the problem.

I really need to check into this....my passenger side does this a bit. I've heard it can be the sway bar end links and the shock bracket gives me some new light. Just hoping to provide info for people searching, as this issue seems fairly common.
