Cracked rim can it be fixed?

Hit a "smart boulder" that chased me across four lanes of road.

Wheel gurus do you think this can be fixed? Place I got them from fixes, refinishes rims says they have a heli-arc & can fix all but the worst cracks.

Discount tire says the damage to the tire is cosmetic, what do you think?

I would want to see the rim with the tire removed to see how far the crack goes but yes depending on the price (<$100) I would have it repaired. As for the tire, is there a cut in it? How deep is it?

It does not seem cut. Discount Tire refused to re mount the rim but said the tire was fine. Both the front and rear rims were damaged and I am debating making a claim or just dealing with it out of pocket.

The tire has less than 600 miles on it. It is a Potenza RE960AS

Thanks

Check ebay for wheels. I would imagine you could get two wheels for at or near your deductible.

Thanks, that was among the first things I did. There were four with bad tires and major curbage with 160 in shipping and he would not remove the tires.

There is one for 185 bin & 46.21 shipping which puts it over new and a slew of replicas but they are sets.

They are 222.09 new from the dealer (discounted) hopefully one can be fixed and I'll buy a new or junk yard rim.

It will work out, just a hassle until it does.

Thanks

ahh idk about that sidewall. Its never a good thing to have sidewall damage, that can cause huge problems in the future. Im suprised discount tire refused to replace that. Usually tire dealers/manufacturers look at that as a saftely thing.

90.00 for that rim, we'll see what the front costs after I get this one back, I did not feel like having the car sitting on jackstands.

The front is bent on the inside like this but a bit more and at the hub, it may not be repairable. I'll find out tomorrow.
