No, the widest you can go on the 17x7.5 width is 235...

Actually, yes you can, but you'll be stretching it a bit...

lets put it this way. tire places would highly recommend against 235's. now, putting 245's means that you would have the tire tucking in alot, hence more sidewall flex than intended. also, you will be altering the contact patch to the ground, and essentially the tire wont fuction in the manner it would was meant to.
i doubt you would see a benefit from this size on your stock rims, and you risk the possibility of the tire coming off the rim under heavy cornering. driving normally you can probably get away with it.

Aren't the stock Type S rims 17x7 not 17x7.5? ...

I know the TL-S stock rims are 17x6.5 (super thin), and I thought the CL-S rims were only one size wider?

Thats right. TLS-6.5, CLS-7.0, 245 is too wide. Theres been a lot of pics posted here of 235's. Some look good, others look way to big, in my opinion.

The rims on my car are 17' by 8' and I run 245s all the way around. I had to modify the rear lip in the wheel well. It it is pastic so that is easy to do.
