Best handling tires on your CL?

So what are the best handling tires you've had on your CL? And what size and rim width?

So far, BFG GForce Summer tires. I forget the full model name. 17-45/225 (stock wheels, one tire size up). Great in the rain, and nice and grippy. Cost alittle north of $500 for all four installed at Costco. Free rotation and balance for the life of the tires. So far Ive got about 14k on them, and they still seem to have life in them.

on my CL the only set ive had besides stock has been the Falken FK452 --- grip the road very well ---

On other cars ive had goodyear f-1's and yokohama es100s --- both nice and sticky

however i really dont push any cars to the threshold of losing grip --- so to me the summer tires all do the job i need them to do -- the stocks suck for that.

These aren't best grip tires. I currently run the Bridestone Potenza RE050A pole position 235/45/17...now these are real tires.

I got a set of these coming:http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=3 They are supposed to stick better than Azenis which I felt were awesome, so I'm pretty excited to see. I was trying to get them on before New Year, but special order will put it back a couple weeks.
Anyway, keep 'em coming guys as its interesting to see what people have run.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 225/50 17 on stock 17 x 7 wheels by far. Excellent dry and wet traction...high limits..excellent grip...good winter traction for a high performance tire

I've had my Dunlop Direzza Z1 Starspecs on for about two weeks now and these things stick. Noise level is a bit higher than the Toyo Proxes 4, Federal SS595, and Falken ST115, but nothing obtrusive. From recall, which is always questionable, these seem a bit quieter than Kumho SPT and Yokohama ES100. The sidewalls are quite stiff on this tire so hitting the big stuff can be a bit jarring, but the soft compound actually makes smoother roads comfy. Turn-in is right now. The only other tires I've experianced that give you that suction cup feeling grip were Falken Azenis. These tires make the CL feel more nimble and less like the big and heavy car that it is.
Oh yeah: 225/45/17s on stock wheels.

Goodyear Eagle F1's, good in rain, heat and snow. Has carbon fiber panels in the sidewalls for cornering stiffness.

best tires i've had on my car to date were still the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. since i've been stretching my tires, I like the Toyo T1Rs.

I just ordered a set of BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S 235/45ZR17 tires. I bought these for my wife's 3000GT. All I can say is "wow." A corner that the Yokohama AS430s handled at 35-40 MPH suddenly became a 60 MPH curve in testing. Unbelievable traction.

Avon Tech M550 A/S
-- TireRack user ratings = 10 out of 10 for Acura CL. Highest rated A/S tire for CL.
-- Awesome the first 10k miles, but at 19k miles ---> The tires are cupping, and the edges are breaking down. Very loud tires after break-in period.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S -- Not bad, but not overly impressed either.

Stock Michelin tires were awful.

I use the Wife's 3000GT as a test bed of sorts. If a tire handles poorly on that car, if won't have a prayer on the CL-S.

Tire we have tried and dislike:
------------------------------------
Michelin MXMH4 -- Good all around traction, overrated dry traction, soft side walls.
Yokohama AS430 -- Poor wet traction, easy to hydroplane.
Dunlop SP 9000 -- Mileage??? What is this thing you speak of? Wet Traction??? You drive when it rains?
Dunlop SP 5000 -- Extremely Poor wet traction, makes hydroplaning a sport.

had michelin pilot sports on both my cobra and cl and they don't hold up well in dry hot climates. Have falken fk452 and I can't complain there relatively inexpensive, not noisy at all, grip fairly well, good bang for the buck.

What is the Dunlop SP (Sport?) Signature considered? 5000? 9000? Neither??

Thanks

In the dry, for street tires that are affordable I vote for hankook RS2's in 235's.

michelin mxm4

My car had four new Kumaho Excta ASX tires when I bought it. They are complete crap! The wear on them is terrible. Wet traction is non existent. Within 8 months all four looked like them were 5 years old. Three tires developed bubbles. I know these are from potholes but I drive the same roads with two different cars both have 50 series tires and the other car has no bubbles at all. (1975 Plymouth Scamp w/bridgestones) Kumaho's had 4/32's of tread left after 8,000 and I don't burn rubber or run low tire pressure. I check my tires every time I get gas. Just crap crap crap tires. I now have Michelin MXM4's and love them. About 7 thousand miles on them and they still look new. Wet and snow traction is very good. I can really feel these tire hook up from a stand still. To each his own but I will buy Michelin next time.

Now I've got my Yokohama S.Drives on my 18s. I love them SOOOOOO much more then the BF-Gs. Theyre quieter, grippier, and handle much better in the rain. They were exensive though. Almost $750 shipped without installation.

The shop near me wanted $210 per tire, but I got them online for $160 a piece.

slapped a set of R-Compounds on my car the other day and did some spirited driving in them, i guess you could consider those the best "handling tires" ever put on my car.

There are so many positive and negative reviews on tires out there! Once person loves them, the next person hates them. Ahhh... its frustrating because I'm in the market for tires and don't want to make a bad choice. I would say i drive pretty conservative most of the time, but every once and awhile i will hit a corner or on ramp up. I live in seattle and we do get rain! So I guess I'm looking for a tire that performs well but as well as give me some dicent milage out of them.

REO1R is probably the best tire i've ever had experience with. I liked them a lot more on my Civic that I owned than My falken azenis or kumho MX

BTW, when they discontinued them, The price was dropped by about 30%. Sick steals on some RE01Rs

Grippiest tire I've ever owned was a 245/35/13 Kumho V700 on my miata's race wheels.

Has anyone ran the Falken 912? Consumer reports rates it high and discount tire reviews seem to be good. Its a Ultra High performance all season.
