Anyone replace their Tie Rod Ends?

I think mine are shot. The helms doesn't look very detailed on replacing them. It appears you just unbolt it and screw it off the steering rack. Hardest part appears to be greasing the boots. Would bad tie rod ends cause creaking? How about minor vibrations at highway speeds? I know it can cause the steering wheel to appear lop sided which mine is, it is WAY left when going straight.

have you checked it ?
creaking is usually a lower balljoint
most of the time, TL-CL-MDX have the inner tie-rods worn (knocking though).
but yes it still could be your outer tie-rod that creaks.

have someone turn your steering left-right in a spot where it creaks, and place your hand on the tie-rod's head and you should feel the noise/vibrations in your hand

they are very easy to replace and fairly cheap as well. i had to replace an outer tierod end on the side of I-75 on the way back from nopi last year. plus they usually come with a grease fitting so you can grease them.

thats what i was thinking, easy install. i did notice the bushings looked shot, leaking grease, etc.

i hope its not the inner rods.

and i hope its not the lower balljoint, that looks fun.

my upper balljoint/control arm is ingalls and its a beast, i know thats not the culprit.

my outer tie rods are shot. i can move the rod around with my hand.

BUT, i did your advice and looked real close at the lower balljoint, i jacked the car up and viewed it from inside and underneath. i can see they are torn and i'm now 99% sure that is the cause for my grease all inside the wheel.

now, how hard is it to replace the lower balljoint?

My steering wheel is doing the same, yet it is basicaly cranked to the right (instead of the left) when going straight. My steering wheel has been vibrating a little bit lately...on the highway. Thought nothing of it till I saw this thread.

Another question, going over speed bumps, I can hear squeaking noise from the front end and the rear end...the rear end I'm thinking that it's the comptech sway bar that squeaks so loud.

So, if the steering wheel has moved to either the left or right, what exactly needs to be replaced?

it isn't that hard to do the lower balljoint. it just takes a little time to do.
