40 offset wheels - 18" rims? Help!

Hi gang,

I'm thinking of picking up some new wheels and was hoping for some feedback on my options. I've got the 2003 CL-S and was looking at some 18x8" rims and 225/40ZR18 tires. Will this work or will they rub? My car is not lowered yet, but I plan on dropping it a bit (probably Comptech springs) soon after.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Brian

Im not sure if 18x8 will fit with the 40 offset. But you migh want to try 18x7.5 and get wider tires like 235.

i think you will rub in the back with the ct springs. you should go w/ at most 18x7.5 +42. to fit an 8" wheel you would need +45 or more.

Thanks

Thanks for the help guys. I've decided to go with some 18X7 225/40/18 tires/wheels with a +45 offset.

Should that work?

Thanks,
Brian

Yes, that should work fine. That was my old setup and it was OK and I have the H&R Sports which drop lower then the Comptech. My current setup is +48 offset and that too is fine.

I've got a set of comptech springs and was planning to go with an 18 - 235/40; you're saying there is a chance this will rub? Is the 225/40 just a safer alternative? In either scenario, is it better to go with a 7.5 or 8 inch tire?
