235-45-17 is a correct speedo match.

However TL rims are +45 offset, if your lowered you may rub.

You can use 225-45-17 as well, to help cure rubbing problems, but your speedo will be a little off.

I ordered and mounted the 235/45/17 (TL OEM size) on TL rims and they were going to rub very bad. The dealer took them back off and put on 215/50/17 (The CL-S OEM size) and they worked great. The rim was NOT too wide for the tire. If anything it stiffened up the sidewall for cornering.

I had stock springs. YMMV.

Well, I don't actually have the car or the rims anymore. I had the "knock-offs" made by a company in FL that make Acura OEM wheels. They were the same specs as the 04 TL wheels.

Okay I dont mean to be retarded, but if I then buy a set of OEM 2006 Acura TL 17" rims, I can just put it on my 01 CL-S, w/out any mods right?

Thanks.

There are multiple threads on this forum with what appears to be conflicting info.

On another thread, another owner indicated and posted pics to show that 3G TL rims with 235/45-17 tires will fit with no problems. He has stock suspension setup.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=190981

So to help the fellow owners in this direction, how about the folks in the know help out here.

If using 3G TL rims (17 inch, 8JJ width, 45mm offset), what tires will fit, and what potential issues there might be? Stock vs lowered?
- 215/50-17 (same as stock CL-S) No speedo issues. But 8JJ width is wider then recommended for this tire size by most mfg.
- 225/45-17 (speedo issues?)
- 235/45-17 (no speedo issues but rubbing?)

Please chime in and help clarify the issues here.

Thanks.

Honestly, if I had to do it again, I'd go with 225/35/17s just so I wouldn't rub. The only time I do if there is a bump in the road from constructions thats about 4 to 5 inches in height.

i'm running 235 45 17 on the tl rims and am lowered on tien ss with about 2 finger gap. no rubbing problems at all. occasionally i get minor rub on big bumps but i think that would be fixed if i stiffened the shocks (i have them set really low)

also no real problems with the speedo
