38mm offset

38mm offset

rims are 17x8 with +38mm offset. would they fit? i've read articles on what offset is but i still have no idea what it is.

No. They will rub.

Offset is the distance from the hub mounting plate to the center line of the wheel. It will influence how much the wheel sticks out towards the edge of the fender. If the offset is too low, the wheel will rub. Try to stick between +45 and +55. You may be able to get away with a +42 in some cases, but usually on a 7 or 7.5 inch wheel.
