235/40/18 on 18 X 7.5 wheels work?

Hey guys,
I got a set of 18" X 7.5 Racing Hart C5 wheels and I was wondering whether 235/40 tires would work on them. I read some posts here where peopel said that 25/40 is max on a 7.5 width, but some people say it should work. I'm wondering how many of you have done this and what are your experiences?

Any rubbing?

Thanks..

what kind of tires do you have? I have a set of 18"x7.5 and was looking at the yokohama AVS ES100 in 235/40/18, but I went to www.tirerack.com looked up the spec on the tire, and the width of the tire does not fit a 7.5 width rim, it fit I believe between 8 to 9 width rim. So I just stayed with 225/40/10 parada Spec II, just to be safe!

just my $.02

I have that setup with CT springs and it's great.

EDIT: I haven't had any rubbing, just slight increased wear on the insides of tires (no camber kit).

I have 18x7.5 +43mm on 235/40/18s and it doesn't stick out. Flush with the car. You should be fine.

anyone know for sure if Racing Hart C5 Evo 18 X 7.5 can for sure handle 235/40/18 tires? I want to make sure I don't get the wrong tires again. So If you know for sure please let me know.

I had Racing hart C3's with 235-40-18's with no problems with the tires. However I had 18X7.5 +42 offset, & rubbed with a comptech drop. Only rubbed on big dips on the roads, or speed bumps.

so it should be ok with no drop...right? I'd prefer not to drop, will it look good with 235/40/18 's or is there stil too much space betweenthe tire and the car?

this is from a TLer's experience....i had those same rims on my TL and i had the H&R OE Drop with 225/18/40 tires....i rubbed like crazy....if you dont plan on dropping, you might rub over bumps and the such.....my solution was getting the fender trimmed....after i did that...no more rubbing issues.....i deno if the specs for the CL are that much different though....

IMO I think the 235 will rub if lowered with H&R Sport as I've had the C2's with 225 and they BARELY tucked inside the fenders.
