235 or 225

235 or 225
So I just lowered my '03 CLS (auto) via eibach pro dampers and tanabe nf210 springs. I know.... I know...... coilovers would of been a better choice but for my situation I felt this was a decent setup for my priorities...... Long story short. I'm going to get a set of new shoes and I'm wondering what the differences in ride quality, if any are between 225/40/18 and 235/40/18? I know some have said the "235" will allow the speedometer to better read??? I have read alot of the posts in here already but my main question is ride quality? Rim of choice is enkei rpf1, 18x8. I'm only lowered 1 inch in the front and about half to 3/4 in the rear. Thanks in advance.

I have took the time to read all that I can on here so please have some patience. I'm just looking for some current advice from members with their wheel and tire setup(s). Thanks.

I'm running 235/40/18 for the reason to keep the speedometer accurate. This is the size that will keep it the most accurate.
Never ran 225/40/18 but compared to 235s, the ride on the 225 will be harsher because the sidewall is shorter. You will also lose some traction because of the narrower tire. But I think the tire prices are better for 225s. To me, it wasn't worth it, 235 all the way.

Depends on width of rim. On 8" go 235 for sure. On my stocks i run 235/45/17

Any rubbing issues with the 18x8 +45 offset and 235/40/18 tires? My car is sitting down about 1" in front and 3/4" in back (from stock) with H&R OE sports and bilsteins. I never had any problems with the 225/45/18 on 18x7.5 +53. I was even wondering if 245/40/18s would fit without being a problem. I do not have rolled fenders or a camber kit.

I have h&r sport springs and koni yellows with 18x8 +45 aspecs. I run Michelin pilot super sports in 235-40-18 and when I rub occasionally. When I first put them on the back would rub any time somebody was in the back seat until I trimmed the bumper tab. The only problem I have is the front rubbing when turning and there is a dip. It rubs on the the front fender liner clips

I have those rims on currently with 235/40. I will rub on big dips in the rear only. I'm dropped about 1.6" around, rolled rear fenders and no camber kit. (ingalls is going on in the spring). With a 225 you might be ok.

If those are pictures of this set up, it doesn't look too bad. I thought it might "balloon" the sidewalls a little more. Tire racks specs recommend a minimum wheel width of 8" for a 235. Did you have any "funky" wear or ride issues? What did the 18X7.5 Aspecs come off of? TSX?

I never had any problem with wear or ride issues. They never really ballooned and they fit well in my opinion. The 18x7.5 aspecs were off a tsx and had a 55 offset.
